Although I pretty much missed the first season of Idol, I’ve been watching Survivor since it’s premiere episode and never missed a single show. And that’s including all the recap shows they stick in the middle of the seasen sometimes. I don’t write a blog for Survivor, and with its shift to Wednesdays, it would be impossible anyway. But I still make chops and SABs when the mood strikes.
This season is set in Nicaragua, with the return of Boston Rob and the infamous Russell Hantz. But the real highlight of the season for me has been Phillip Sheppard, a “former federal agent” whose actual capacity with the federal government is still unclear. Phillip points out repeatedly that his federal agent training gives him the preternatural ability to know who is lying. With his pink tighty whities and his tendency to prattle on over certain subjects (such as the Bushido Code, which is actually just WWII era Japanese government propoganda and not an actual samurai code), Phillip rub many of his tribemates the wrong way. But I find his attempts at aligning with cool kids give him an endearing underdog quality. This is why so many of the chops and SABs are Phillip-centric.
If you’re not watching this season you may find the following collection cryptic and inscrutable.
Phillip, BTW, has a tattoo of a lion on one shoulder and a tattoo of a gorilla on the other. He considers himself the embodiment of the Lion & Gorilla.
